Director of Marketing

Joannah Long 2021-1

Joannah joined Spaugh Dameron Tenny as marketing director in November 2020. Her role includes developing firm marketing strategies, producing content, overseeing branding and messaging, including social media and external communications, vendor management, budget management, lead generation, and digital UX. She places a high priority on building strong relationships, which include internally within the firm, with external vendors, and, ultimately, with clients.

“When it comes to marketing, it is essential to build trust,” says Joannah. “Whenever a client, prospect, or center of influence engages with us, the feeling of trust has to be present. We’re asking to work with them to build a holistic, comprehensive financial plan that addresses their unique financial situation, needs, and goals. That can’t happen without trust.”

A seasoned marketing veteran, before joining the SDT team, Joannah served as the senior marketing and communications director for Charlotte’s Harris YMCA for almost ten years. She also worked as a digital marketing and communications specialist for Fairway Independent Mortgage Co., as well as the marketing manager for Amelié’s French Bakery & Café. She cites helping companies grow brand awareness and increase profitability as one of her favorite challenges.

Away from the office, soccer occupies much of Joannah’s free time. A former avid player, she now coaches soccer and is a big fan of the U.S. Women’s National Team and Tottenham Hotspur F.C. She actually met her husband playing soccer. Together they have a daughter. She also enjoys running, cooking, traveling, and cheering on Joannah’s alma mater, the UNC Tar Heels!

Fun fact about Joannah: You’ll never beat her in Star Wars trivia! She’s watched the original 1977 film over 50 times and finds Hans Solo fascinating, describing him like an onion - with many layers to peel back.
