A natural communicator, Shane Tenny, CFP®, once imagined a career in broadcast journalism before discovering financial planning in 2000. Today, as Managing Partner of Spaugh Dameron Tenny, he works with high-net-worth individuals and families nationwide, helping them navigate complex financial decisions with clarity, structure, and confidence.

Since joining the firm in 2000 and becoming Managing Partner in 2007, Shane has guided clients through pivotal financial transitions, including career changes, liquidity events, retirement, and multigenerational planning. While Shane remains actively engaged with clients, he also devotes significant time to leading the firm and strengthening the systems, culture, and planning philosophy that support consistent, long-term client outcomes.

A defining element of Shane’s approach is his focus on behavioral finance. His work blends technical expertise with a deep understanding of behavioral finance. He has completed advanced studies in Behavioral Economics through the University of Chicago Booth School of Business, and believes that sound financial decisions require more than technical expertise; they also require an understanding of how emotion, experience, and personal history shape behavior. Shane integrates this perspective into every client relationship.

Shane’s insights have been featured in industry education programs, speaking engagements, blogs, interviews, and television segments. From 2019 through 2025, he hosted the Prosperous Doc® Podcast, and he has served as an instructor for the CFP® Ethics Program and on various industry advisory boards. He is also the author of the business fable Your Next Million.

Outside of work, Shane is active in his church, enjoys horseback riding, hiking in the North Carolina mountains, reading, and almost any outdoor activity. Shane and his wife, Noël, have been married for over 25 years and are proud parents of four children.
