Entrepreneurship runs in Andrew’s blood. Growing up in a family of business-owners, he saw first-hand the struggles and rewards of business ownership. For Andrew, there is nothing more satisfying than helping business-owners find their way. “While doctors dedicate their lives to their professions during training, no one teaches them how to run a business. There are no courses on day to day operations or financial strategies. I treasure the opportunity to help business owners develop clarity and purpose in their businesses, so that they can focus on their profession.”
A tax attorney by training, Andrew is also a CPA and a CFP®, and uses his unique education to comprehensively guide clients on helping to maximize wealth through a unique blend of tax-centric cash flow strategies that can be essential for small business owners. Andrew remembers the specific moment he was drawn to the profession and his philosophy: “I was assigned to read Commissioner v. Newman, 159 F.2d 848 (2d Cir. 1947) for a tax class in law school and quote from the case struck me like lightning: ‘Over and over again courts have said that there is nothing sinister in so arranging one's affairs as to keep taxes as low as possible . . . taxes are enforced exactions, not voluntary contributions. To demand more in the name of morals is mere cant.’ It was revolutionary for me. It was the moment I realized that tax law is complex, but all of the answers are in front of us – all we have to do is put in the dedication to understand it for our clients.”
Andrew has a passion for sharing his knowledge with doctors all over the country, and has served as a guest lecturer for the American Dental Association (ADA), American Association of Orthodontists (AAO), the Pacific Coast Society of Orthodontists (PCSO), the Rocky Mountain Dental Convention (RMDC), The North Carolina Dental Society, The Thomas P. Hinman Dental Meeting, the West Central Dental Society, the Colorado Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, the Arkansas Association of Orthodontists, The Edgar D. Coolidge Endodontic Study Club, and others.
Andrew lives in Waxhaw with his wife, Morgan, and his two daughters. As a life-long student, Andrew is an alumnus of NC State, Campbell University, and most recently, Yale School of Management’s Executive Education program in Investment Management Theory & Practice. When he’s not helping doctors achieve financial independence, Andrew enjoys powerlifting and strongman competitions, videography, and taking fantasy football way more seriously than he should.
